This month I've joined in with the Art with Heart Team monthly creative showcase. I'm quite new to the team and this is my first time contributing. Each month has a different theme and this month it is using only 5 supplies.
This theme really resonated with me as I know that many people when starting out papercrafting see stunning projects on social media and would love to create them but don't yet have all the supplies needed. It can be a bit overwhelming and make people feel that they need to have everything to be able to make beautiful things. I'm confident that our showcase this month will demonstrate that you can make lovely things with just a few supplies.
The supplies I'm using tonight are Whisper White cardstock, Beauty Abounds stampset, Basic Grey Ink, Bumblebee Ink and the Bumblebee gingham ribbon. I've made two slimline cards using these supplies, one in portrait and one in landscape orientation.
The Beauty Abounds stampset is a versatile investment if you can only choose one set as it has a combination of graphic elements stamps which can be used for backgrounds, detailed butterfly stamps, line drawings which are great for colouring and also some sweet sentiments.
I cut the cardstock to 21 x 20cm and scored and folded at 10cm on the shorter side to make the slimline card bases. For the landscape card I cut a panel 21cm x 7cm and stamped this all over in Bumblebee ink using the "splatter" stamp from the set.
I used the stamping off technique, stamping repeatedly without reinking the stamp to get different shades of yellow. I then added a few butterflies in Bumblebee and Basic Grey, again using stamping off to achieve different shades. This background layer was adhered using Dimensionals to give some extra depth.
The card is finished with a simple "for you" sentiment and a piece of gingham ribbon. An extra detail was added with a butterfly stamped on the inside of the card as well.
For the portrait card I cut a panel 9.7cm by 20.7cm which would leave just a tiny border around the card front. I used the floral flourish to create a pattern down one side of the panel and then "coloured" this in using the splatter in Bumblebee ink. Again I used the stamping off technique to get different shades.
The sentiment strip was decorated with the splatter and adhered using Dimensionals. I added a few of the tiny butterflies to the side detail and a feature butterfly at the top. The card was finished with a tiny gingham bow.
This was quite a creative challenge this month as I often reach for just one more embellishment, an extra colour or a dash of Wink of Stella when creating my cards. I think the finished cards are simple but effective and certainly something a new crafter could replicate with minimal supplies.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing these cards
