LittleTreat Box for Halloween

Halloween Treat Boxes

My daughter is getting super excited about Halloween. She even wore her witch dress up to the supermarket the other day! I've never celebrated the date, but the kids do seem to get into the spirit. So I thought I would join in the spooky celebrations with some teeny boxes to put sweet treats in.

One of my favourite items in the August-December mini catalogue, and hidden right towards the back, is the Little Treats Bundle of stamps and dies. These are suitable for almost any occasion and offer so many possibilities. Shop the bundle here.

For these spooky versions I used black card to die cut the boxes, spiders and tags and Granny Apple Green for the scalloped circle. The sentiment was stamped in Whisper White craft ink. The spider is finished off with a little sparkle from Wink of Stella and Glittered Organdy ribbon, because I can't resist a bit of bling!

Two Ways to Use the Snowflake Splendour Patterned Paper

Two greeting cards with Snowflake splendour paper

I fell in love with this snowflake patterned paper when I first saw it in the Stampin' Up! August - December 2020 Mini Catalogue. I love the non-traditional Christmas colours and the nod to a favourite children's movie. The pack is a combination of pastel snowflake patterns and watercolour effects in pale blue, turquoise and lilac shades. So pretty, and for the whole month of October 2020 this paper is 15% off! Purchase a pack here.

I wanted to show the versatility of the patterned paper by using it to create a Christmas card and also an everyday card suitable all year round. I chose the same paper from the set and used the reverse sides for my two different cards.

For the Christmas card I mounted the patterned paper on a piece of Pool Party cardstock and added another piece on top for my sentiment. The sentiment is from the Snowflake Wishes stamp set, stamped in Misty Moonlight ink.

The card is finished with a die cut snowflake cut from the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper, some of the off cuts of the glimmer paper and some blue adhesive backed gems.

Next I made an everyday card using the same Pool Party cardstock and patterned paper, but reversing the pattern. I stamped directly onto the paper using Misty Moonlight ink and the Beauty Abounds stamp set. The sentiment is from Many Mates, stamped onto a punched 2" circle and daubed with Highland Heather ink. Finally I fussy cut a butterfly from Beauty Abounds and added some sparkle with Wink of Stella, finishing it all with some ribbon.

Basket of Blooms Birthday Card

birthday card with embossing and stamped basket of flowers

This card had a lengthy journey to make as it was a birthday card I made for my mum in the UK. Travel disruption has had a pretty big impact on the postal service timeframes with fewer flights taking mail from Australia to the UK. I had to be super organised to get this one in the post several weeks early in the hopes it would arrive on time. It was a day late, but she loved it anyway! A handmade card is always worth waiting for.

I used some thick Whisper White cad for my card base. This card is exactly the right weight for a standard sized card, keeping your card standing up nicely. I made a background using the Greenery embossing folder and Soft Seafoam cardstock and the Basket of Blooms stampset to create the little basket of flowers. My mum is a keen gardener and this basket reminds me so much of the trug she used to use in the garden when I was small (she probably still has it).

The basket and flowers were stamped and then coloured using Stampin' Blends. I absolutely love the effect and depth you can create using these alcohol markers. Fussy cutting all the little flowers was a labour of love, but it was for my mum and she's worth it!

Stampin' Dimensionals gave the basket and flowers some pop and it was finished off with a sentiment from Many Mates and a bow of linen thread.
