It has been far too long since I sat down at my desk to make a card. I've had a good excuse - we just sold our house, packed it up, moved interstate, drove 5000 km with our caravan, found a new house, started my daughter at a new school, oh and of course there was Christmas and New Year thrown into the mix in between. And still I feel guilty that I haven't made more time to create, which is something I love to do. Our new house doesn't have a dedicated craft room (yet!) so I'm working out of boxes while sitting in the corner of our open plan living area, and still I had so much fun making this.
The inspiration for this card was my mother in law's birthday. She lives in a little country cottage in Wales and loves animals, so this pretty stamp set seemed perfect. I love the greens in the Forever Greenery Suite and, using a sheet of the patterned Designer Series Paper as my background, I chose a muted palette of neutrals and greens for this card.
The card base was made from Soft Sea Foam, which is one of my favourite pastel colours and very versatile. As a background I then adhered a gorgeous, detailed patterned paper from the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper. Any of the prints would be perfect for this project, cut slightly smaller than the card base.
The garden scene is stamped in neutral Crumb Cake ink on a rectangle of white cardstock, then die cut using one of the larger dies from Stitched So Sweetly. Both cut elements of the image were then adhered back in place on the patterned paper with the centre part "popped" up using Dimensionals.
The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Many Mates stamp set, stamped in Versamark ink and then gold embossed on Soft Sea Foam cardstock. Dimensionals were used to make the sentiment stand out and it was finished with a small bow in Just Jade, complementing the pastels of the card and picking out one of the colours of the patterned paper.
