Make your own patterned paper using Under my Umbrella

Cheerful, brightly coloured greetings card stamped with a random wellington boot and flowers pattern using Under my Umbrella stampset and three colours, Bermuda Bay, Magenta Madness and Mango Melody. A central circular sentiment is decorated with flowers and an umbrella and reads Life's showers bring love's flowers

Today I have a project for you showcasing how to make your own Designer Series Paper or patterned paper using stamps. I've used a bright and cheerful colour scheme and the fabulous Under My Umbrella stampset, which sadly will be retiring soon.

The Under my Umbrella stampset coordinates with the Umbrella Builder punch, which will also be retiring in May 2021. However, you can still order these popular items while stocks last until May 3rd and the Umbrella Builder is now an amazing 60% off at only $12.40!

I wanted something to makre something colourful so chose two colours from Stampin' Up!'s "Brights" collection and one of my favourites from the 2020-2022 In Color's, Magenta Madness.

First I created my own patterned paper by stamping the wellington boots randomly all over some white cardstock turning the stamp by 90 degrees each time. I did this in the three colours making sure that some images overlapped the side of my cardstock. This makes it look like the piece has been cut from a larger sheet of paper. Of course, you could always stamp a large sheet and then cut down to suit your project.

I considered colouring the boots in but I liked to simplicity of the pattern created by stamping them onto white cardstock and leaving them as outline images.

After stamping the boots I filled in the spaces in between with the small flower grouping from the stampset. I used this patterned paper as the background of my card front and a piece of super bright Mango Melody cardstock to make the card base. If you look closely you can see I splodged a little dot of Magenta Madness ink somewhere I didn't want it. Fortunately this can be fixed by placing the sentiment over this area.

After stamping the sentiment in Magenta Madness ink I used a 2" circle punch to punch it out, then added some flowers in Mango Melody to the bottom left. I also stamped flower groupings in the other two featured colours and fussy cut them out, adhering them to the back of the sentiment before using Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the sentiment on the card.

I finished the card by stamping and punching a partly closed umbrella using Magenta Madness ink on the same colour of Designer Series Paper, punching it out using the Umbrella Builder punch.
